Bring Claude Code
into your app workflow.

Give Claude Code access to the project open in Appmost. The local MCP bridge connects the agent’s tools to your native app workspace on Mac.

For Claude Code on Mac · Updated

Connect in five steps.

  1. Open Appmost and your project.

Sign in to Appmost on your Mac and open the project you want Claude to work with. Keep the app running throughout the session.

  2. Enable External Agents.

Open Settings → External Agents and turn on Allow external agents to use Appmost tools. Older builds may label the settings page Local Agent.

  3. Select Claude Code.

Choose Claude Code under Configure and copy the setup command. Appmost supplies the exact local bridge path and address for your installation.

  4. Run the copied command in Terminal.

Run it from the folder where you use Claude Code, on the same Mac as Appmost. The generated command replaces the appmost entry in the selected Claude Code scope, then registers the local stdio bridge. Review it before running if you have an existing Appmost configuration.

  5. Restart Claude Code and check the tools.

Start a new local session. Enter /mcp inside Claude Code to inspect the connection, or check the configured server from Terminal:

    claude mcp get appmost

Confirm it points to Appmost’s local bridge. Then run the read-only request below to check the live connection.

Give Claude a first task.

Start by checking that the connected project is the right one. Claude should use the discovered Appmost tools rather than inventing a project from the prompt.

Use the Appmost MCP tools to inspect the currently open project. Tell me its name, list the pages, and describe the main navigation. Do not edit the project.

Use the Appmost MCP tools to review the home screen in the open project. Suggest one improvement to spacing or readability. Explain the change first, wait for my approval, and render the updated screen after applying it.

Connection questions.

Terminal cannot find the “claude” command.

Follow the official Claude Code setup instructions, then open a new Terminal window. Sign in to Claude Code and run the command copied from Appmost.

The server only appears in one project.

Claude Code supports local, project and user scopes. Its default local scope is specific to the current project. Run Appmost’s command in the folder where you work, or review Claude’s scope documentation before choosing a broader scope. Check for a conflicting Appmost entry before changing it.

The server is listed, but calls fail.

Check that Appmost is open, External Agents is enabled, and MCP connection details shows Running. Copy a fresh setup command if you changed the connection address. Restart Claude Code and begin a new session. If it still fails, keep the original connection error for support.

Is this also the Claude Desktop chat configuration?

Claude Code and Claude Desktop chat use separate local MCP configuration. The command in Appmost configures Claude Code. Follow Anthropic’s shared-configuration guide when choosing your client; a Claude Desktop chat configuration is not automatically a Claude Code entry.

Can I use the same address as a Claude web connector?

No. Claude web connectors connect from Anthropic’s cloud, even when configured in a desktop client. They cannot reach Appmost through your Mac’s loopback address. This guide uses the local Claude Code bridge. See Anthropic’s remote connector guide for the separate web workflow.
